Mr. Des Aston

National and Schools Co-Ordinator (Education)

Des Aston is National and Schools Coordinator located in Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities [TCPID], School of Education, Trinity College Dublin.

Des is responsible for establishing the Inclusive National Higher Education Forum [INHEF] with a vested interest in embedding inclusive education initiatives and alternative access routes for students with intellectual disabilities into the higher education landscape in Ireland.

Des’ professional background is in the social care sector, studying for his B.A. Applied Social Studies in Social Care from St. Patricks, Carlow College and also Adult and Community Education from Maynooth University. Des has worked supporting adults with intellectual disabilities in various roles and previously served as the programme coordinator of the Inclusive Learning Initiative [ILI] at Maynooth University.
