College Awareness Week – Day #6 Maynooth University

Inclusive Learning Initiative (Discontinued as of May 2018)

The ILI was an access route and support system for students with intellectual disabilities in Maynooth University. The ILI supported students to take mainstream modules across their chosen discpline on offer at Maynooth University. Students were supported to integrate into life as a University student at Maynooth – both academic and social life. As of May 2018, the ILI was discontinued due to the lack of sustainable funding models allocated to inclusive education initiatives in Ireland. (See here)

Below you will see a short documentary directed by, and starring, Michael Gannon – a graduate student of the ILI who was studying in the Department of Media Studies at Maynooth University and created this documentary about his college experience as a part of a module assessment.
